About Healing Bonds Counselling and Psychotherapy
"Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose." – Viktor Frankl
Abigail Yang | Specialist EMDR for Trauma & Grief Recovery
Life has a way of presenting us with circumstances that can feel unbearable, often leaving us searching for a sense of meaning in the aftermath of loss or trauma. My journey into psychotherapy was born out of a deep commitment to being a companion for those navigating these difficult seasons—the "space between" who you were and who you are becoming.
I have spent many years working across the diverse landscapes of Singapore’s care sectors, from eldercare to family service centers and community mental health and palliative care. These settings have been my greatest teachers. They taught me that healing isn't about being "fixed," but about having a safe, steady space to explore your challenges and work toward clarity at your own pace.
I believe that every person’s story is unique, and healing often requires more than just talk. Because of this, I’ve spent my career learning different "languages" of the heart and mind so that I can meet you exactly where you are.
In our time together, we might find that words are enough, but we might also find that your pain lives in places words can’t quite reach. For those moments, I draw on expressive tools like sandplay and symbol work, or the gentle processing of EMDR and Internal Family Systems, to help your nervous system find its way back to a sense of safety and calm.
When working with grief and loss, my focus isn't on helping you "move on," but rather on helping you live with your story in a way that feels honest and manageable. We work together to slowly reconstruct a sense of meaning at a pace that respects your unique rhythm.
Whether we are exploring deep-seated trauma, navigating a difficult life transition, or working through the patterns that cause disconnection in your relationships, my role is to offer a steady, compassionate presence. I integrate emotionally-focused and attachment-based perspectives to ensure that you feel truly seen and held throughout our work together. I am here to offer you a grounded presence as you find your footing again.
My background is diverse—I originally started in Business and Marketing before following my calling into Counselling Psychology. This blend of experiences helps me connect with people from all walks of life, especially professionals who may feel they have to "have it all together" while struggling silently.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am a Graduate Certificate holder in Clinical Supervision, providing a reflective space for fellow practitioners to grow.
